About Author

Kumiko Horibe

Born and living in Tokyo. Mother of two teenage children. Studied graphic design and contemporary art at Women’s Art College. After working as a CG designer, she began working as an illustrator in 2016.  She began creating picture books after being selected for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy in 2021. She learned how to create picture books at workshops such as the Itabashi Art Museum’s “Summer Atelier” and “Connecting Picture Books to the Stars,” and has been exhibiting her privately printed picture books every year. Since 2023, she has been attending a bookbinding studio, working on bookbinding and broadening the scope of his expression.  In 2024, her work “Good Poop Cats/Bad Poop Cats” was selected for the 25th Pinpoint Picture Book Competition. Her works include the e-book “Weird Things About Cats” (Kodansha). She specializes in illustrations that combine unique colors and stylish patterns with simple lines and shapes. She continues to create works based on the theme of “books that enrich the hearts of everyone, from children to adults.”
