“One day, I saw something shaking in my tree.
I immediately thought it was god.”
This picture book describes the irreplaceable days with Kami-sama(god) from the cat Tom-kun’s point of view.
Author: Mio Hashimoto, Sculptor
She has a studio in an old house in Mie prefecture, JAPAN where she carves animals out of wood. The material is camphorwood. She sculpts animals that live or used to live in this world as models, aiming to create sculptures that allow to meet once more as alive. She is currently holding solo exhibitions at museums around the country.
At the age of 15, she was hit by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and when she saw a bagworm at her parents’ house, she thought it was a god. A few years later, she sheltered a cat, Tom-kun. This book is a true story about the next ten years, in which she juxtaposes the cat and god with her own feelings.
